4th-5th Generation
4th Generation: ![]() Despite Ashford's abadonment of Knightmare development, the project of developing frames in general had not been abandoned yet. Development of Knightmares in the 4th Generation period was heavily reliant on the 3rd Generation Ganimede model. However, through many trials and errors, and with the experimental data from the Ganimede, the RPI-11 Glasgow was developed. This model was the first to actually be combat compatible unlike the models made within the last 3 Generations. Its use during the invasion of Japan proved that it was both tactically and technologically superior. After this, Glasgows soon became the base of the army for the Britannian Empire. Glasgow soon also became a reference model to future generation frames. Besides the Glasgow, other frames that were developed through the 4th Generation included the Boatman and the Knight police model which were still used for law enforcement. At the same time, the Japanese also developed the Burai, Burai Kai and Raikou models which were similar to that of the Glasgow but at the same time was almost a completely different design. 5th Generation: ![]() Development of the Britannian Glasgow sparked a boom for global robotics development. 5th Generation knightmare development was more focused on improving mobility and close combat performance. Since the Glasgow was developed with conventional type weapons such as those found on a tank, it was soon realized that a newer approach was required. Thus the 5th Generation brought the appearance of improved version of Glasgows, the Sutherlands[sazarando]. With the idea of knightmare combat in mind, Sutherlands had improved the cockpit's comfort and function, and was also improved with close-combat abilities. Mobility efficiency was improved with the use of new pivot-turning landspinners. This allowed knightmares to quickly turn left or right at a constant speed. This technology was eventually fed back and added to the Glasgows. Second princess Cornelia, made use of the new Sutherlands, using them as a template to develop Gloucesters(custom frames remodelled from the Sutherland). Remodelling of the Sutherlands was not made in the idea of anti-robot weapon (againstbut in the idea as an anti-knightmare weapon (for fighting against knightmares - this reflected the development of knightmares in the Chinese Federation and the EU Republic). |
